Which file do I need?
- emergency-unlock.bat โ Try this first. Opens your browser with extensions disabled so you can reload Browser Secure.
- reset-lock-state.bat โ Use if the browser still closes instantly. Clears saved lock/PIN data, then opens the browser with extensions disabled. You will set your PIN again.
Method 1 โ Emergency unlock (try first)
Close the browser completely
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and end every chrome.exe, brave.exe, or msedge.exe process.
Run emergency-unlock.bat
Download the file above, double-click it, and choose your browser from the menu (1 = Brave, 2 = Edge, 3 = Chrome, 4 = Chromium).
Reload the extension
In the browser that opens, go to the extensions page:
- Chrome:
chrome://extensions - Brave:
brave://extensions - Edge:
edge://extensions
Find Browser Secure and click Reload (or remove and reinstall from the store).
Open the browser normally
Close the browser fully, then open it again without --disable-extensions. You should see the PIN screen or your normal session.
Method 2 โ Reset lock state (if Method 1 fails)
Close the browser completely
Same as Method 1 โ no browser processes should be running.
Run reset-lock-state.bat
Choose your browser from the menu. The script will remove stuck extension storage and start the browser with extensions disabled.
Reload and set PIN again
Go to the extensions page, reload Browser Secure, open Options, and set a new PIN. Close and reopen the browser normally.
Manual method (no download)
If you cannot run .bat files, do this by hand:
- Close all browser windows and end processes in Task Manager.
- Press Win+R, paste one of these, and press Enter:
- Brave:
"%ProgramFiles%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe" --disable-extensions - Edge:
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --disable-extensions - Chrome:
"%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-extensions
- Brave:
- Reload Browser Secure on the extensions page.
